New Hamburg Fall Fair

My name is Margaret Heckman and I am honoured to have had the chance to represent the Wilmot Agricultural Society as the 2018-2019 Ambassador.

It was at the New Hamburg Fall Fair, where I fell in love with our community! I was overwhelmingly excited to be named Ambassador. This has been such an incredible experience that has taught me so much about myself, our community and agriculture.

It seems not so long ago that I was here at the 2018 Fall Fair, enjoying everything it had to offer. I had so many cool opportunities - like handing out ribbons for the 4H show, or giving out derby trophies and even judging the baby contest! One thing that I will never forget about the fair is the fact that I got to spend the whole weekend with the other ambassador contestants, who are now all my close friends.

During my year as ambassador, I attended board meetings, district meetings and I also participated in the New Hamburg, Wellesley and Baden Santa Claus Parades - you may remember seeing me on the convertible in the pouring rain during the New Hamburg Parade (I still had an amazing time). In February, I was able to attend the OAAS Convention in Toronto, where I met ambassadors from all across Ontario and participated in workshops. I am looking forward to be competing at the CNE in August and representing our community to the best of my ability.

I would like to thank the Wilmot Ag Society and the Ambassador Committee for giving young people in our community, like myself, an opportunity to grow as a person and represent the wonderful community we live in. Thank you for welcoming me to your society with open arms.

I would also like to thank all of the sponsors who contributed to the fair, as well as my own sponsor for the program, the Wilmot Optimist Club. I hope you all have an amazing weekend at the fair and good luck to the 2019-20 Ambassador! Thank you all for your support!
